I’m Nathan Nader, and I’m the newest addition to the development team at Blue Compass. I have experience with both front-end and back-end development, but will be focused as a Front-End Developer.
My Background as a Developer
Although I graduated from Herzing University in Madison, Wisconsin with a B.A. in Graphic Design, I found web development to be much more challenging and exciting as I got into the workforce. My first job that utilized my graphic design skills was at a web firm called INET. Everyone did a little bit of everything - from design to development, even client support - which allowed me to learn more about web development. Over time, I strengthened my skills and was named the Senior Front-End Developer at INET.
I moved to Iowa when my fiancé was relocated to the Des Moines area for her career. I worked at another agency in town and experimented with back-end web development, but decided I preferred front-end development and made the switch to Blue Compass.
A Little Bit About Me
I prefer to go by Nader over the name Nathan, mostly because I was given the nickname Naderade in 6th grade and it stuck. I’m also a proud Wisconsinite; I believe the three main food groups everyone should live by are beer, meat and cheese! Even though I’m enjoying living in Iowa, there are certain phrases I say that contradict the average Iowan, but I stay true to my roots; for example, I say “soda” instead of “pop” and still call a water fountain a “bubbler.”
Joining the Blue Compass Team
When I saw the opening at Blue Compass, I was excited to get back to front-end development and continue doing what I’m most passionate about. After starting here and getting to know the office a little better, I’m happy to be a part of such a fun and cooperative team who genuinely enjoys working together!
